She was one in a family of nine children all of whom have passed away except one brother, Fred Beeler of Grinnell. The George Beeler family experienced some of the hardships of pioneer life and as a daughter in the home, Mary Ann Beeler Bravely did her part in the hard work incident in the early days in estabilishing a comfortable home.

She was married to William Garrett, June 29th 1869. To this union were born four sons who are all living in or near Grinnell. Austin C., Milton H., Emanuel F., and Clarence R. Four grandchildren were later taken into the home and received a mother's care from the grandmother. The husband who preceded her, died February 25, 1912.

Mrs. Garrett left her country home where she had lived the most of her life about four years ago, coming to Grinnell to live with a son at 701 Fourth Ave. For some months her health had been failing and she departed this life July 15, 1925 at the age of 79 years, leaving to mourn her loss her four sons, one brother, sixteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
