Wayne H. Hasselbrink, 66, of Grinnell died on Saturday, April 20, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center of a heart attack.
Funeral services for Wayne Hasselbrink will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. The Rev. Daniel Ogata of Grinnell will officiate, with Margaret Wheeler organist.
Pallbearers will be Max Allen, Wilbur Allen, Clarence Cogley, Hugh German, Larry German and Don Latham. Veteran’s rites will be conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
The son of William and Elsie Henning Hasselbrink, Wayne Hasselbrink was born on April 17, 1930, in Jasper County. He attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1949. Following his education, he served with the U.S. Navy.
On Aug. 19, 1956, he married Janet LaGrange in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell, where he worked for General Telephone Company. He also was an insurance representative for American Family Insurance and a sales representative for Directory Service of Boulder, Colo. He retired in 1992.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell and the local Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Grinnell; a daughter, Lynn Wade, of Cedar Rapids; a son, Brent Hasselbrink of Baxter; four grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Pratt of Clarion and Doris Bryan of Lynnville; and two brothers, Edward of Woodbridge, N.J., and Richard of Grinnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and a sister, June.
Memorials may be made to the Grinnell Elks Building Fund.
