OBITUARY
MARGARET E. LYMAN

Margaret E. Lyman, 82, of Victor, died Wednesday, May 18, 1988, at her daughter's home, rural Iowa City, where she had been staying.

She was the daughter of George and Marie Roth Merck, and was born on June 19, 1905, at Lincoln Township, Iowa County. She attended school at St. John's School South of Victor and was a 1925 graduate of Victor High School. On June 19, 1928, she was married to Cloyd Lyman in Victor at her family home. She had lived in Victor since 1920. One of her hobbies had been quilting.

She had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Church Ladies Aid. She was the Church Organist for 65 years and had taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Robert (Glorine) Berry of Iowa City; two granddaughters: Mrs. Lane (Kathy) Warden of Victor and Mrs. Michael (Christy) Stevens of Iowa City, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, at the St. James Lutheran Church in Victor with the Rev. Michael H. Holm officiating. Organist was Marna Mohr of Ladora. The Pall Bearers were David Dolmage of Victor, Harold Mattfeld of Austin, Minn., Lawrence Merck of Victor, Marvin Merck and William Niebuhr of Cedar Rapids and Harold Schmidt and Merlin Schmidt of Victor.

Burial was in the Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor. A memorial fund has been established at St. James Lutheran Church or Hospice of Iowa City.

The McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
