ESTHER PORTER SERVICES HELD

Esther Porter, 86, died Monday, June 30, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Malcom Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Maze of Grinnell officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Porter had lived on a farm in the Grinnell area, coming to Grinnell in 1962.

She is survived by her children, Claudine Toht of Orange City, Fla., James H. Manatt of Malcom, Mildred Church of Inverness, Fla., and Melvin Porter of Newton, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Velma Watson of Sun City, Ariz.; a brother, Clifford Wichman of Grinnell; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; two brothers, Richard and Julius Wichman; a sister, Blanche Wichman in infancy; and three grandchildren.
