(Taken from the Grinnell, Poweshiek County, Iowa newspaper 2-1-1918.)
Mrs. Milly Emmeline Cox

Milly Emmeline Antle was born on March 20, 1844, in Morgan County, Illinois, near Jacksonville. She lost her mother when a young girl and made her home with Mr. & Mrs. Woods of that vicinity. While there she at one time helped entertain Abraham Lincoln. She was united in marriage to Richard Jewell Cox, in February, 1865.

Mr. & Mrs. Cox resided near Kellogg, Iowa, the first five years of their married life. Then they came to Rock Creek township, Jasper County, while that was yet unbroken prairie. Here she shared with her husband 47 years of faithful labor.

Mrs. Cox united with the Baptist church when a young woman, and transferred her membership to Liberty church in Rock Creek township. She was a good neighbor and well known for her hospitality.

She was a true wife & mother, devoted to her home.

She is survived by her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Alfred J. Breeden, of Grinnell; her son, Wm. M. Cox, living at the home place; a grandson, Floyd L. Breeden, of Grover, Colorado, and a great grandson, Lyle Breeden.

Mrs. Cox had been in poor health for many years. Her last illness was of 2 weeks' duration. She passed to the other country where there is no more pain, at five-thirty o'clock in the morning of January 26, 1918, aged 73 years, 10 months and 6 days.
