JENNIE F. KLINE SERVICES SET FOR TUESDAY
Mrs. Jennie Fae Kline, 87, the widow of Mathew A. Kline, died Saturday evening at the Americana Nursing Home in Des Moines.
Mrs. Kline was a long-time Grinnell area resident, but moved to Des Moines four years ago to be near her daughter. When she died, she had been a patient at the nursing home for 11 months.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Melinda Speas, and was born in Poweshiek County near Chelsea on Feb. 19, 1886. She attended the rural schools near her home and received teachers training at the former LeGrand Normal School in LeGrand, Ia. She taught country school near Chelsea and Lower Blue Point.
On May 9, 1907 she was married to Mathew Arthur Kline in Montezuma. To this marriage two daughters were born: Ina Fae Kline, who died Jan. 13, 1960; and Mrs. Leonard (Dorothy Mae) Chase of Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Kline farmed in the Blue Point neighborhood until 1945, when they moved to Grinnell.
Her husband, Matt, died on Feb. 26, 1963.
She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy; her grandson, Wayne A. Chase of Grinnell; and a great grandson, Keith Douglas Chase. Also surviving is her sister, Mrs. Bessie Ethel O'Harra of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter and three brothers, Harold, Clyde and Carl Wilkinson.
Services for Mrs. Jennie Kline will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John McCallum, minister of the Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.
Burial will be made in Hazelwood cemetery.
