Last Tuesday another of Poweshiek county's highly esteemed pioneers passed from this life. The name of John Sowerwine is closely linked with early history of this part of Poweshiek county. He was a man of sterling worth and enjoyed the fullest confidence and esteem of all who knew him. For several years past he had lived at Newton but returned last fall, with his wife and daughter, Mrs. J.G. Handford, and family, and passed his remaining days in Brooklyn among his old friends here who have known, respected and loved him so many years.--Brooklyn Chronicle.
