THURSIA MAE MYERS

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 2, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor for Thursia Mae Myers, 84, of Victor, who died March 30, 1998, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

The Rev. Torger Johnson, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Victor, officiated. Organist Jane Alexander provided "Just As I Am" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Roger Cook, Terry Koehn, Jessica Myers, Michael Myers, Michelle Myers, Paul Myers, Marvin Read and Laverne Weisskepf. Interment was in Victor Memorial Cemetery at Victor.

Thursia was born on Feb. 1, 1914, at Brooklyn, to Harvey and Molly Keysor Benton Hayward. She was raised at Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School with the class of 1931.

On Aug. 12, 1937, she was married to Irving Myers at Marengo. The couple lived in Lincoln Township, southeast and north of Victor, and operated a grain and livestock farm. In 1967, they moved into Victor.

Thursia was a member of the Victor United Methodist Church and was active in the U.M.W.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and was fond of her cats. Her hobbies included gardening and yard work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and one grandson, Jason Koehn.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Terry and Mary Myers of Oxford, Sharon and Lonny Koehn of Victor, and Daryl Myers of Iowa City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church Handicap Accessibility Fund.
