John W. Gwin died at the Lee Anderson home last Wednesday afternoon. He was ill of consumption and had but recently returned from Colorado where he had been hoping to improve his health.

He was born in Holmes County, Ohio, Aug. 18, 1854, and died in Montezuma, Iowa, March 24, 1909.

He was married to Annetta Palmer, Dec. 30, 1874. To this union was born two sons and three daughters, Louis, Harry, Ida, Mayme and Sarah.

Funeral services were held in Grinnell Thursday at 2:30 at the M.E. church conducted by Rev. Handy, after which he was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place to await the coming of the resurrection.
