SERVICES HELD FOR MR. RAYL
Clifford Fred Rayl, 74, a resident of Montezuma for 23 years, died at University Hospitals in Iowa City Saturday, Nov. 24.
Funeral services for Mr. Rayl were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. Myron Harris officiating. Burial was in Montezuma.
The son of A.D. and Mary Jane Reavis Rayl, he was born April 13, 1899, in Poweshiek County. He was raised in the Sugar Creek area, and on Sept. 12, 1917, was married to Miriam Frances Gault. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1967. They moved to Montezuma in 1950.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Shawnee, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Koger of Newton and Audrey Marsh of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Delbert Rayl of Searsboro; five sisters, Elsie Anderson of Sitka, Alaska, Mrs. Obie (Thelma) Criswell of Grinnell, and Opal Frebert, Edna Rayl, and Mrs. George (Ruth) Hayes, all of Sacramento, Calif. nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Miriam, who died in 1970.
