USEFUL LIFE REACHES END
Mrs. W.W. Stowe Passed Away At
Her Home Saturday Evening
Funeral Services Were
Held Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Stowe Had Been A Resident Of
County During All Her 66 Years
Lucy Margaret Manatt was born September 4, 1861, at Brooklyn, Iowa. She moved to Grinnell in 1882 and on Nov. 8, 1883 she was united in marriage with Mr. Willard W. Stowe. Since that time her home has been in Grinnell. She passed away at the home, 533 High St. on Saturday evening, Oct. 8, 1927.
For some time Mrs. Stowe had been in failing health but her death came suddenly and was quite a shock to her family and friends.
Her father and mother and one sister preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her decease, her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Dana Murphy, two grandchildren and four brothers. The brothers are, Geo. J. Manatt, Malcom, Iowa; Elmer E., Santa Ana, Cal.; Arthur of Grinnell and Claire of Monmouth, Illinois.
Funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon conducted by the Rev. George Blagg. Appropriate hymns were sung by Miss Loie Stevens and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster. Burial was made in Hazelwood.Source: The Grinnell Herald Register Tues., October 11, 1927
