AN OBITUARY OF FRANK L. CASS
Frank L. Cass was born in Richmond, N.H., October 12, 1852, and came to Iowa in his early manhood, in 1879, purchasing land northeast of Grinnell. He resided on this farm for about 17 years and then purchased a farm in Rock Creek township which was his home for several years. He and his famiy came to Grinnell to live about fifteen years ago.
He was married to Miss Lizzie Mitchell of Searsboro, who survives him. Four children were born to them, Mrs. Russell Sage of Marshalltown, Miss Myrtle Cass, who received her Ph.D. degree from Columbia University last year and is now engaged in research work in New York City, Miss Sadie Cass, at home and one son, James Cass, who died in 1917, leaving one daughter, Norma. He is also survived by one brother, Edward Cass of Peterboro, N.H. Another brother, James Byron Cass, died about eight years ago in Orange, Mass.
Miss Myrtle Cass was called from New York by her father's illness and has been at home for the past two weeks.
Mr. Cass was one of Poweshiek county's upright, respected citizens. A good man of business, he also found time for the higher things of life and was interested in his church and every good movement in the community. He has left his mark for good on the community in which he lived and will be remembered with respect and sincere esteem by a large circle of friends.
