MRS. THOMAS FUNERAL HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Thomas were conducted by the Rev. Paul Septer at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Music at the rites was provided by organist Mrs. Jack Ramsey.

Casket bearers were Max Ladd, Warren Loving, Wallace Aurand, Dean Hall, Scott DeHoedt and Robert DeHoedt. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas died Friday, Feb. 9, at Grinnell General Hospital. She was 59 years old.

The daughter of Amos and Minnie McClain Gilbert, she was born near Grinnell on Sept. 27, 1913. She attended rural and Grinnell schools. She lived with her parents in the Blue Point community caring for them in their old age.

On Oct. 25, 1957, she married Joseph B. (Toby) Thomas in Oskaloosa. They lived in Montezuma until moving to their farm home about eight years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Church of Christ Disciples in Montezuma.

She is survived by her husband; a sister, Mrs. Mae Talbert of Montezuma; and two brothers, Lloyd Gilbert of Grinnell and Harry Gilbert of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ray Gilbert.
