Isaac Elmer Schooley, son of William Webster and Margaret A. Schooley, was born near Searsboro, on April 14, 1872. He went with his parents to Lynnville in eary boyhood where he remained until he grew to young manhood. Later he went to Pocahontas county, Iowa, where he was united in marriage with Miss Lula Hanke on December 16, 1900. They came to Grinnell in September, 1908, where they have since resided. Mr. Schooley passed away March 31, at the age of 47 years, 11 months, 16 days. He was a member of the Friends church. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, one son, a father, two brothers and four sisters, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was conducted at 10 o'clock this morning from the Friends church by Rev. Joseph Sopher and interment was in Hazelwood. At the time of his death Mr. Schooley was employed in the post office and Postmaster W.J. Nelson speaks in the highest terms of his industry and reliable qualitites. The Herald can also give similar testimony, for Mr. Schooley was janitor of The Herald building for several months. Elmer Schooley was a hard working, kindly man. He made no enemies and many friends mourn his untimely death.
