ELIZABETH L. MCFARLAND, PIONEER DIES FOLLOWING LINGERING ILLNESS
Mrs. Elizabeth L. McFarland, 60, passed away at the McFarland residence at 39 I street Sunday, following a lingering illness. She was born March 15, 1887 at Brooklyn, Iowa and was married at Eugene on September 11, 1913 to Frank McFarland. She has been a resident here since 1911, coming from Iowa. She operated a maternity home during the greater part of her residence here and was credited with helping to bring over 1,000 babies into the world. She was a member of the Episcopal church.
Surviving are a husband and one son, Millard McFarland, a student at the University of Oregon, Eugene, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Alfred Patten, Mrs. Jennie Norris, Mrs. Vern Slagle, all of Brooklyn, Iowa, Mrs. Lillie Hall of Guernsey, Iowa; Henry Orr of Riverton, Wyoming and John Orr of Toppenish, Washington.
Funeral services were held from the Mills mortuary Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Hugh Peniston officiating. Interment was in the Masonic I.O.O.F. cemetery.
