OBITUARY
Daniel J. Evans was born in Green( Greene) County, Ohio, November 12, 1818 and died May 28, 1914, aged 95 years, 6 months and 17 days.
He came to Iowa in 1854 and has resided in Poweshiek county until his death with the exception of two years. In 1843 he was united in marriage to Asenath Mendenhall and to them were born two sons. After the death of the first wife he was joined in wedlock with Jane Fields to whom six sons and two daughters were born.
He was a member of the Campbellite church now known as Disciples. The united testimony of those who know him most and best was that he was an honest, upright citizen, a good neighbor and a consistent christian. His funeral was largely attended by the neighbors from the community in which he lived.
Services were held in the Brethren church conducted by the pastor. Interment in the Brooklyn cemetery.
