FORMER BROOKLYN BOY

Jay Sherman Benton, eldest son of Minnie and Emery Benton was born Brooklyn, Iowa Jan. 7, 1887, and died at the Fiser home near Marengo, aged 35 years, 9 months, and 1 day. His boyhood days were spent in Brooklyn, where he attended school. He enlisted in the 123rd Infantry, Company C, during the World war. In 1919 he united in marriage with Miss Winnie Fiser. Their only son died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, father, mother, two brothers Guy of Brooklyn and Delbert of Hartwick; five sisters, Mrs. Vernon Perry of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Harry Gwinn of Victor, Mrs. Walter Torrance of Hartwick, Mrs. Floyd Fiser of Victor and Xavie at home.
