MAX GILBERT ELECTROCUTED
Grinnellian's Kin Killed In High Line AccidentMax Gilbert, 25, of New Sharon, grandson of Mrs. Bertha Gilbert of Grinnell, was electrocuted about 3:15 Wednesday afternoon while working on a high line in Oskaloosa.
Gilbert was holding a cable guiding a pole when the boom pushing the pole came in contact with a high voltage line. The current passed down the boom and through the cable, killing the young man instantly.
In addition to his grandmother, Gilbert is survived by his wife and daughter, Patty, 2-1/2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Gilbert of near New Sharon; two brothers, Gene and George of Grinnell; a sister, Rosemary, at home; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's church in charge of Rev. Father V.A. Walsh with burial in the Calvary cemetery. Rosary will be said at the James funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.
NOTE: Max Gilbert is buried in the Calvary section of Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, Iowa.
