MRS. ALSINDA NORRIS

Mrs. Norris was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Keysor. She was born in Morrow county, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1849, so that at the time of her passing away, July 24th, 1928, she had reached the great age of 78 years, 7 months and 23 days. When about 15 years, she came with her parents to Ewart, Iowa, removing after a year to Brooklyn, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to John N. Norris in Dec. 1866, living in the vicinity of Brooklyn until they came to Montezuma in 1898. They had 12 children, of which 7 are still living.

For many years Mrs. Norris has been a professed Christian. The Christian church of Montezuma having been her home church since residing here.
Her husband preceded her in death 21 years ago, the 17th day of this month. The children surviving are Jake Norris, Brooklyn; Mrs. Martha Veverka, Montezuma; Elzy Norris, Grinnell; Elver, Victor; Mrs. Silby McGee, Forest City, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Gilbreaith, Montezuma; O.J. Norris, Brooklyn. Besides these there are 17 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, two sisters,Mrs. O.D. Sleggel, Coon Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. George Stephenson, Hutchinson, Kans.

During her last sickness of 8 weeks Mrs. Norris was tenderly and lovingly cared for by her sister, Mrs. Sleggel and daughter, Mrs. McGee. She was truly a devoted wife and kind and loving mother who now "rests sweetly rests" from earthly care and toil.
