MRS. ELMER SLAGLE SERVICES CONDUCTED

Mrs. Elmer Slagle, 58, a former resident of Montezuma, died Thursday, Sept. 18, in Hugoton, Kan., after a long illness.

The former Lodi Mae Tarvin was born Sept. 25, 1910, at Barnes City. She was a graduate of Montezuma High School. She married Elmer V. Slagle at Brooklyn on May 31, 1931. For the past 20 years she served as a librarian in Hugoton.

She is survived by her husband; her daughters, Mrs. H.N. (Katherine) Young of Greensboro, N.C. and Mrs. R.E. (Alice) Barnard of Omaha; her sons, Capt. Douglas Slagle of Arlington, Va., and Roy Slagle of Akron, Ohio; her sisters Mrs. George (Bertha) Vanderburg of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Mrs. Floyd (Marjorie) Little of Montezuma; her brothers, Everett Tarvin and Cleo Tarvin of Leonia, N.J., Floyd Tarvin of Montezuma, Clark Tarvin of Brooklyn and Raymond Tarvin of Malcom; and eight grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Slagle were held Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Hugoton Methodist Church. Burial was at the Hugoton Cemetery.
