MRS. JENNIE NORRIS, LONGTIME RESIDENT OF BROOKLYN, DIES

Mrs. Jennie Norris, 87, longtime resident of Brooklyn died at a Grinnell nursing home on December 13th following a long illness.

Funeral services were held December 15th at Brooklyn with the Rev. M.C. Shupe, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gerard had charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were Howard Patten, Bert Kann, Glenn Mowrey, Lester Norman, Amos Reida and Mark Johnston. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery.

Daughter of Joseph and Mabel Orr, she was born December 9th, 1871 in Pennsylvania. She was one of seven children. When about seven years of age she came to Iowa with her family and with the exception of eight years spent in Wyoming, her entire life was spent in and near Brooklyn.

August 2nd, 1894, she was united in marriage to Jacob Norris and to this union, ten children were born: Fred, Ina Price, Lillie Hockett, Grace Cookston, Mary Chapman, Naomi Price, Lila Johnston, and Ralph. Two children, Joseph and Jessie, preceded her in death. Her husband died in 1944.

Mrs. Norris became a member of Grace Methodist church while in high school and was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.

Surviving relatives are her eight children; two sisters, Lillie Hall of Guernsey and Daisy Patten of Brooklyn; and one brother, Henry Orr of Riverton, Wyoming.
