Betty Shafranek, 66:
Celebration of life services for Betty Jean Shafranek, 66, Keswick was held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, Dec 31, at the Millersburg United Methodist Church.
She died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at Mercy Hopital, Iowa City, after a brief illnes.
Organist was Patty Best. Soloist was Annet Schaffner. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Old Rugged Cross".
Burieal was in the Sorden Cemetery near Keswick. Casket bearers were Edwin Ploog, Roger Edmundson, Mark Zittergruen, Larry Bair, Lyle Shafranek and TOm Siren. Honary Casket bearers wer Luke Lon, Clint Long, Nick Schulze, Parker Schulze and Zachary Schulze.
Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English, was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Jean Shafraneck was born July 13, 1940, in Humboldt, the daughter of DOnald and Arlene Case Anderson. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1957 and attended IBM School. After School, She worked for Bankers Life, Des Moines. She moved to California where she lived for seven years beofre moving to Millersburg in 1972.
She married Charles Shafraneck July 18, 1981, at the Millersburg United Methodist Church. After their marriage, the couple lived on the farm near Keswick for a number of years before moving into town in 1991.
She worked for 20 plus years at Amana Refrigeration, retiring in 1995, and later at the English Valley Care Center and the Thrift Shop, North English.
She was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church and the Legion Auxillary, Keswick. She enjoyed talking with her family and friends and traveling.
Shafranek is survived by her husband: four sons and their wives, Mike & Carmen Schulze, Grinell; Dale ^ Laurie Schulze, Phoenix, Arizona; Dennis Schulze, Marengo and Mitchel & Margaret Schulze, Indianola: one daughter Ronda Long, Longview, Texas; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Anderson, Brawley, Calif.; Sonia Davis, Badger and Becky Anderson, Seattle, Washington; one brother & his wife Don & Judy Anderson of Marion, Ia and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandsons.
