FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Death came Friday evening to Mrs. Frank Manatt, a former resident of this community. Since the death of her husband several years ago she had been making her home with a daughter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sybil Lucretia Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carter C. Walker, was born October 19, 1866, at Kewanee, Ill., and came with her parents to Grinnell, Iowa, when a small child. She finished school there and the family moved to the farm northwest of Victor now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hollin Fish.

On March 5, 1887, she was united in marriage to Frank E. Manatt of Brooklyn and they made their home in Ladora until 1890 when they moved to town. They engaged in the restaurant business until 1917 when they moved to Cedar Rapids when the home was made, with the exception of a few years spent in Marion.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Manatt. Two daughters and two sons preceded her in death, also her husband, who passed away about three years ago. Surviving children are Mrs. Opal (Lee) Andre of Marshalltown, Mrs. Grace Reubel of Cedar Rapids with whom she made her home, Russell Manatt, also of Cedar Rapids. She also leaves seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was one of five children, all of whom had preceded her in death, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Manatt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1937.

Funeral services were held in Cedar Rapids Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the Beatty Mortuary. Burial was made in the Memorial Park cemetery.
