'SUSPICIOUS DEATH' IS INVESTIGATED NEAR HARTWICK

A Poweshiek County woman was pronounced dead after being taken to Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a possible overdose.

On Monday, Jan. 30, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office deputies and the East Poweshiek Ambulance Service responded to a call at 3018 220th St., northwest of Hartwick in Poweshiek County.

According to Poweshiek County Sheriff Thomaas B. Sheets, Lydia (Miller) Wisner, 36, was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary autopsy by the Iowa State Medical Examiner indicates the death may have been the result of a possible accidental overdose.

According the news reports, Sheets had called in the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to assist with the case saying, "Things just didn't look right."

According to Sheets, the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death.

A 1994 graduate of Belle Plaine High School, Wisner was married to Seth J. Wisner.

Her mother, Sharon "Shorty" Miller, died accidentally at her home on Friday, Jan. 20.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office, the Poweshiek County Attorney's Office, the Department of Criminal Investigation and the State Medical Examiner's Office.
