BROOKLYN MAN
DEAD AFTER CRASH

A 69-year-old Brooklyn man died in the University Hospitals in Iowa City after a car-truck crash that occurred near the Brooklyn I-80 Standard service station at 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, June 2.

The accident happened on county road D-18, two miles south of Brooklyn. The Wilcox car was reportedly southbound, and a semi-tractor, driven by Robert G. Wragge, was attempting to turn into the service station's south driveway. The truck allegedly failed to yield half of the roadway to the oncoming car, and hit the Wilcox auto with what Trooper Mark Davis called "a glancing blow."

Davis said that there was damage to the left front quarter of the truck, and to the entire left side of the Wilcox car. Wilcox was first taken to Grinnell General Hospital, and later transferred to the University Hospitals. He died at 11:30 p.m.

Charges are pending in the accident.
