AT THE ALTAR

At the home of the bride at Lynnville at high noon, April 29th, 1902, Rev. Eli G. Parker said the impressive and short ceremony which joined in holy matrimony George Newton Howell, youngest son of Mrs. Mary A. Howell, and Jennie M. Slagel, daughter of Alpheus and Lucy Slagel.

The bride and groom received quite a number of useful presents as tokens of high esteem in which they are held by their numerous relatives and friends. The contracting parties are highly respected citizens of Jasper and Poweshiek counties. The groom has recently erected a commodious dwelling for the new bride on the farm where they will make their future home. May sunshine be their lot.

The mother and sisters of the groom gave a reception at their home in Grinnell on the evening of the 21st from 5 to 7 o'clock for the bride and groom.

At this reception Mrs. Umbenhauer played several selections appropriate to the occasion and Mrs. Kiester sang.
