BOY'S EAR IS
TORN OFF BY
FAMILY DOG

(From the Montezuma Republican)

John Conrad, 14 year old foster son of Mr. and Robert McKee, who live seven miles east of Montezuma, suffered the loss of an ear Saturday afternoon when the watch dog, which is kept chained most of the time near the house, became enraged. The dog seized young Conrad by the ear, and in the ensuing tussle, the ear was ripped from the top, taking the major portion of it and leaving a small bit at the bottom.

Conrad was taken by James Gauley, a close neighbor, to Deep River for medical treatment and later was returned to his home. Mr. and Mrs. McKee were not at home at the time, leaving Conrad and his sister, 12 years old.
