FARM HOME IS
DESTROYED BY FIRE

The farm home of Elmer Hudnutt, situated one half mile north and a mile west of Jacob Switch was destroyed by fire Monday morning at about 5:30. Mrs. Hudnutt and the six children who were sleeping in the upstairs rooms escaped after being aroused by Mr. Hudnutt.

A defective flue in the kitchen was the cause of the disastrous fire. Mr. Hudnutt had arisen and built a fire in the living room. He then kindled one in the kitchen stove and had been looking after the first fire kindled when he discovered the fire in the kitchen. By this time it had gained such headway that his efforts were useless. He put in a call for help over the phone line and soon the neighbors were on hand helping what they could.

Most of the furniture in the downstairs was saved, but in the upstairs rooms all was lost. Insurance will cover most of the damage.

Mr. and Mrs. Hudnutt are at the present time making their home with the Fred Brannians, until he can decide what to do.

The Hudnutt farm was at one time owned by Charles Chase and the house had been built about fifty years.--Montezuma Republican.
