Stephen Neitzel Dies Following a Highway Accident

STEPHEN DALE NEITZEL

Stephen Dale Neitzel, 33, of Malcom, died Sunday at Des Moines following a highway accident. He was foreman with Manatts Inc. construction.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Neitzel was killed when chunks of concrete fell off a semi-trailer ahead of the pick-up truck in which he was traveling.

The accident happened on I-80, west-bound lane, one mile east of Altoona.

Driver of the pick-up was Larry G. Long, 28, of Elberon. He was taken to a Des Moines hospital, where he is listed in "good condition."

Neitzel's survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marlan (Evelyn) Neitzel of Malcom; a daughter, Angela of Montezuma; a step-daughter, Wendy Sue Austin of Montezuma; a brother, Dean of Malcom; a sister, Julie Ann Burch of Grinnell, and a grandmother, Wilma Dunham of Oskaloosa.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at McAninch-Fremmings, Victor. Burial: Guernsey Cemetery.
