FAIR YOUNG LADY
CASHED BAD CHECK

Louis Kutish is going to be careful after this how he cashes checks for attractive young ladies who say that they are students in Grinnell College or any other college. Louis did it the other day and it cost him a $10 traveling bag and $10 in good coin of the realm.

The lady in question called at the Kutish store, picked out a nice leather bag and presented a $20 check in payment, saying that she was a student in college here. The check was drawn on the First National Bank of Davenport and was signed by Harriett L. Barr, who the young lady said was her mother. Asked to endorse her name and address on the check the young lady wrote down Virginia Barr of Kellogg.

The check went through the usual procedure and was returned to Mr. Kutish marked no funds. An investigation showed that no Virginia Barr was a student in Grinnell College.

Louis has an idea that the young lady is working this stunt in college towns and believes that it should be given publicity.
