SGT. SLAGLE AND BRIDE VISIT RELATIVES HERE
Sgt. Herbert Slagle, U.S. Marine corps, and his bride, the former Jewel Coseboom of El Cajon, Calif., have arrived in Grinnell for a visit with Sgt. Slagle's sisters, Mrs. William Peters and Mrs. Joe Buffum, 608 Spring street, and other relatives.
Sgt. and Mrs. Slagle were married in St. Paul's Episcopal church, San Diego, Calif., Sunday, April 22. Mrs. Slagle, daughter of Mrs. J.A. Nylander of El Cajon and Lloyd Coseboom of Long Beach, Calif., was employed in the Navy communications office at San Francisco before her marriage. She will remain here for an extended visit after Sgt. Slagle reports to Camp LeJeune, N.C., Saturday, May 19, for further assignment.
Sgt. Slagle, who attended the Grinnell high school, enlisted in the Marines four and a half years ago, and this is his first visit home since enlisting. For the past 30 months he has been overseas, on Midway and in Hawaii.
