The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Dec. 1, 1891

--Mr. J.C. Beeler returned Saturday from Villisca where he went to look after his brother who was reported killed by a train near that place. He found him alive but badly injured. It seems that the train was running in four sections, and three had passed. Mr. Beeler neither hearing or seeing anything of the 4th supposed the way was clear and ventured upon the track. The engine struck the wagon squarely in the middle, leaving the team unhurt, but killed a horse that was being led behind. Both Mr. Beeler and his son were thrown high in the air and lodged some fifty feet away. The boy received a broken leg and some scratches, while his father was badly injured about the head and spine. They were taken to Villisca and medical aid furnished--the best that could be had.
