AND THIS COULD HAPPEN ONLY IN MONTEZUMA

(From the Montezuma Republican)

Strange things occur these days. Take for example the horse being used to help thresh oats on the John Schlesselman farm near Deep River. The animal was driving up to the separator, all in due form. However, it swished its tail, which caught in a pulley. Off came the horse's tail, off went the pulley up in the air, and part of the machinery was badly broken.

This sad tale of the horse's tail happened Tuesday. Last reports had it that Dr. Hornbeck had the animal in his care and keeping and that the horse was eating. However, it will have to get some other method of shooing off flies. It might be well to mention the fact that the Schlesselman oats went 50 bushes to the acre.
