ENGAGEMENT AND APPROACHING MARRIAGE OF MISS ALVERDA C. HOLLAND ANNOUNCED

The Davenport Daily Times of Thursday, July 25, contained the following account of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Alverda C. Holland to Mr. Leslie William Evans. Miss Holland is a cousin of Albert, Will and Fred Nutting of Grinnell and Mr. and Mrs. Amory Burch of Malcom; also a niece of Mr. A.L. Falkinburg of Malcom, and a granddaughter of the late L. Howard Nutting of Davenport.

The article reads as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Holland of Davenport announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their only daughter, Miss Alverda C. Holland, to Mr. Leslie William, Evans, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Evans of Davenport. The wedding will be an event of early September.

Both Miss Holland and Mr. Evans attended the local public and high schools, the latter being employed at the Victor Animatograph Co.

News of the coming nuptials was disclosed at a party given by the mother of the bride-elect yesterday afternoon. Ronald Fellner, 21 months old cousin of Mr. Evans in the role of Cupid, distributed orchid and green favors, containing notes with the wedding date.

Hearts were played during the afternoon with prizes for the most fortunte. Orchid flowers were arranged about the rooms as decorations and the table appointments in the dining room were in the chosen colors, orchid and green.

Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Lawrence Andrews and daughter, Helen Marie of Spencer, Ia., and Mrs. A.J. Mumm of Durant.

A series of pre-nuptial parties is being arranged.
