DINNER SHOWER HONORS COUPLE

Mrs. Orville Foster entertained at a miscellaneous shower and pot-luck dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Foster, near Newburg, the occasion honoring Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wallis, whose marriage was a Christmas day event. Following a tempting dinner, a mock wedding featured the afternoon entertainment, in which Wilbur Foster acted as minister; Mrs. Walter Clindinin, bride; Mrs. Orville Foster, groom; Mrs. Paul Esler, bridesmaid; Mrs. George Bliven, best man; Doris Foster, mother of the bride; and Clarence Foster, father of the bride. Preceding the "wedding" a trio, composed of Doris, Edna and Jean Foster, sang "The Prisoner's Song" and the Mendelssohn Wedding March was played for the processional. Cleverly enacted by the bridal party in their hard time costumes, the procedure caused a great deal of merriment. Games and contests followed, in which Mrs. Paul Esler was awarded a prize. Each guest then wrote advice to the recent bride.

For the gift presentation, numbered paper hearts in various colors were drawn, each corresponding to numbered slips of paper, which were passed among the guests. As the honorees drew numbers and called them, the guests possessing corresponding numbers read slips of paper containing clever original verses telling the location of the gifts which were hidden throughout the house.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Esler and Caroline, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clindinin and Harry, Mr. and Mrs. George Bliven, Kenneth and Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. John Harter and Junior, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Foster, Wilbur, Bennie and Edna, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Foster, Jean and Donald, John and Margaret Foster, Miss Evelyn Esler and the honored guests. Due to inclement weather, a number were unable to be present.
