LOCAL NEWS

The A.L. Gallup place in Brooklyn was visited by lightning during a recent storm. The barn was burned with a horse, harness and tools, entailing a loss of $400.

Mrs. Elizabeth Thorne, residing east of Montezuma, suffered a broken wrist when the gasoline engine which furnishes power to her washing machine kicked back as she attempted to crank it.

The innocent pastime of shelling walnuts had painful consequences for Sylvanus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Doonan of Montezuma. He caught his right hand in the sheller and badly crushed the tips of the fingers.

Everyone is invited to attend the Sunday School Pie Social at the Maple Grove School Wednesday evening, October 27. The proceeds will be used for the benefit of the Sunday School. A short program will be rendered.

Mrs. D.B. High of Montezuma thought her front door was open the other night and started to enter with some impetuosity. The door was closed and a broken nose was the result of her enthusiasm.

Mrs. W.W. Woodburn, Mrs. John Curtus, Mrs. Ralph Morgan and Mrs. Thos. McConaghie, went to Somerset today where they attended the Women's United Presbyterian meeting which is holding a two day session at Somerset. Mrs. Anna Rutherford and Mrs. Earl Wells were Ewart delegates.
