THE KALNINS WELCOMED IN GRINNELL

Long Expected Latvian Family Arrives Sunday Night

The Latvian family anxiously awaited for over a year by the sponsoring body, the Congregational church is finally in Grinnell.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgars Kalnins, their 21 year old son and the twins, 10 years old, reached Grinnell on the late Rocket Sunday night. Their ship, carrying 1400 displaced persons from Europe, docked in New York Friday afternoon and they came on to Grinnell without further delay. Mr. Kalnins will take over the job as furniture repairer at the college which has been waiting for him for over a year.

For the present, Mr. and Mrs. Kalnins and children are staying with Rev. and Mrs. Leland W. Mann until living accommodations can be found for them. On account of the unexpectedly long delay in their arrival the housing accommodations which had been made for them had to be given up, but every effort is being made to get them located and furniture, household equipment and other necessaries have been awaiting their arrival for months.
