The Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) May 3, 1918

THANKS FROM THE ARMY

Mrs. G.O. Watland hands The Herald the following acknowledgement of the barrel of jams and jellies recently sent by the W.C.T. U. to Deming, N.M.

Camp Cody, N.M., April 3, 1918.
Mrs. G.O. Watland,
Grinnell, Iowa.

My Dear Mrs. Watland:

The barrel of jams and jellies came to hand in good condition, and I delivered them to Company E, 109th Ammunition train, which was formerly the Grinnell troop of cavalry.

I wish you could see how enthusiastic the boys are over the treat. I know it would repay you splendid women of Iowa who are trying with loving hands to make the life of the soldier more pleasant.

I also received the little booklet which you sent, and thank you for it. I wish that every one of the boys might read one of them.

On behalf of the Iowa men, for whom you have been so thoughtful, I desire to thank you and all the other ladies of Grinnell for the treat you have given them.

Very truly yours,
C.B. Robbins,
Major, Adjutant 67th Brigade.
