--Ira G. Swain was aroused from his peaceful slumbers Sunday night by unusual sounds in his hen roost. Making up his mind that his premises were visited by a chicken thief he stealthily made his way thither, gun in hand. Sure enough there was the thief and without warning, taking good aim his trusty gun made the thief capitulate. Five chickens had been slain but the thief has eaten his last chicken. As may be expected he was a gentleman from the south where they call him O. Possum.
