HOCKETT-GILBERT

In the presence of about forty relatives and friends Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Hockett, 827 Prince street, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Myrtle Lucille, to Mr. Lloyd Donald Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Gilbert, all of Grinnell.

At the appointed hour, eight o'clock, Mr. Raymond Eastridge took his place at the piano and played the Lohengrin wedding march.

The bride graciously descended the stairs on the arm of her father. She was preceded by her maid of honor, Miss Lucille Gilbert, sister of the bridegroom.

The bride and maid of honor were met at the foot of the stairway by the bridegroom and his best man, Mr. Howard Hockett, brother of the bride, who escorted them to the improvised arch in the southeast corner of the living room where the marriage vows were taken.

Rev. W.J. Stewart, pastor of the United Presbyterian church officiated, using the double ring ceremony.

Congratulations and best wishes were extended following the wedding service.

The bride wore a frock of blue crepe trimmed in white with accessories to match. She carried an arm bouquet of red roses. Her attendant also wore a blue flat crepe dress made with a white yoke and carried an arm bouquet of Johanna Hill roses. The bridegroom and his attendant were attired in blue suits.

A color scheme of blue and white was carried out in the arch, room decorations and bride's table.

The bride's table was centered with a three tier bride's cake and seated at the table were the bridal party, Mr. Raymond Eastridge and the Rev. and Mrs. W.J. Stewart. The remaining guests were served on trays.

Refreshments consisting of chicken sandwiches, ice cream, bride's cake and coffee were served by Mrs. J.L. Hockett, Mrs. John Ohland, Miss Bernice Hockett and Mrs. Truman Shear.

Upon arrival the guests were received by Mrs. Harold Hockett, a cousin of the bride.

A picture of the bride and bridegroom and one of the bridal party were taken shortly after the ceremony. A number of lovely gifts were received by the young couple from the wedding guests.

During the evening Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert left on a brief wedding trip and will make their home a short distance west of Grinnell.
