thankyou for your reply but on page 57 of that same book,,,("My Best for the Kingdom")...there is an interesting quote of John D. Lee's in regards to a speech that john Lowe Butler made where he's quoted saying that he's "half white and freeborn"....Hartley had his own obvious explanation there in the book but I don't find it convincing....was just wondering if there was anymore info about John Lowe Butler's race....thanks....would love to know more.....Susan Dixon
