I don't have an obit to give you, and I'm not related to this family, but perhaps this info will help you.
The 1964 Council Bluffs city directory lists:
Marie C. Puryear, widow of Clark E.
In the 1900 census for Atchison County, MO., Clay Township, 1 June 1900, SD 4, ED 19, page 234:
Fred Spurlock, b. May 1878, age 22, b. MO, father b. VA, mother b. MO, day laborer
Ella Spurlock, wife, b. Sep 1884, age 16, b. MO, father b. MO, mother b. MO
Clara Spurlock, daughter, b. March 1900, age 3 months, b. MO (IS THIS MARIE CLARA?)There appears to be a Clark Puryear in Des Moines, Iowa, in the 1910 census who was born in Minnesota. I wonder if this is an uncle to Clark Puryear who married Marie Spurlock. In the 1910 census for Council Bluffs, Iowa, there is a family that might be the parents of Clark Puryear who married Marie. Here is that census:
1910, Pott. Co., Council Bluffs, Kane Township, page 48:
Puryear, F. John, 47, married 24 yrs, b. Minnesota, father b. KY, mother b. Ireland, occupation President, Business College
Puryear, Mamie C., wife, 44, gave birth to 1 child, 1 survives, b. MO, father b. KY, mother b. KY
Puryear, Evard, son, 11, b. IA (COULD THIS BE CLARK E.?)In the 1930 census for Polk Co., Iowa, Des Moines, District 47:
Puryear, Clark, 37, b. IA, laborer
Puryear, Marie, 24, b. IA
Spurlock, Fred, lodger, 42, b. IA, laborer
Spurlock, Marie, 39, lodger, b. IAThis appears to be your Marie (Spurlock) Puryear and husband Clark; and perhaps Marie's brother, Fred, and his wife?
I hope this helps give you some leads.
