Kathryn Louise Bolie
(June 25, 1952 - August 4, 2020)

Kathryn Louise Bolie of Council Bluffs, age 68, passed away on August 4, 2020 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa from health complications. She was born June 25, 1952 in Algona, Iowa to Kenneth and Rose (Bishop) Bolie, the middle child of three. Known as Kathy to family and Katie to coworkers, friends and neighbors, she was loved by many.

Kathy graduated from Woodbine High School in 1970 and Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa in 1974 with a B.S. in Social Work. As a social worker and supervisor for the Department of Human Services of Iowa she dedicated her career to helping children. She also volunteered with American Red Cross, Treat the Troops-Iowa Cookie Crumbs and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

As a child she was belonged to 4-H and developed a love for cooking and baking. She collected recipes and volunteered to bake cookies for Treat the Troops-Iowa Cookie Crumbs. At age 11 she cooked the full Thanksgiving dinner for her family.

Kathy cared greatly for her family, including being a devoted sister, sister-in-law, daughter, aunt and cousin. She loved to travel. For many years she took her nieces on summer trips including Holly Beach, Yellowstone, Niagra Falls, Great Lakes, New Mexico, Arizona and many others. She took her parents to Washington DC to see the World War II memorial. There were also trips for work, and volunteer activities. She planned trips to be able to include visiting family and friends whenever she could.

She is survived by brothers Steve (Mavis) of Clive Iowa and Alan of Council Bluffs, nieces Karen English of Des Moines and Sarah (Tim) Copple of Norwalk, Iowa, four great nephews, Emory English, Avory English, Ryne Copple and Keegan Copple and one great niece, Reese Copple and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, a few cousins and close friends.
