Lois Nadine Dorsheimer, the daughter of Henry Washington and Edna Grace (Kennedy) Elliott, was born south of Hancock [Pottawattamie County, Iowa], on Dec. 21, 1920 and died Jan. 12, 2015 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, at the age of 94 years and 22 days.
She attended school near Hancock, and then later moved to Carson. In 1934, her parents purchased a farm and dairy on south Chestnut Street in Atlantic. Lois and her sister delivered milk on the way to school. Lois graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1938. She married Coryell Dorsheimer on Feb. 7,1942 in Brownville, Texas while he was stationed at Camp Bowie. They farmed west of Lewis and had been married 67 years when "Corky" passed away on March 18, 2009. Lois was a hard working farm wife who also enjoyed two neighborhood clubs and numerous crafts. She made soap for several years at the Hitchcock House Pioneer Festival. She was very active in the Lewis Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband Coryell; her parents; her great-grandson Karter; her sister Ione Anderson; and her brother Boyd Elliott.
She is survived by her children; Dennis and wife Nancy of Altoona, Janis and husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tenn., and Daryl of Lewis. Her grandchildren (Dennis) LeAnn (Randall) Classen of Meade, Kan. and children Logan Green, Matesa Osborn and Randsom Classen; Dawn Karnes of Montezuma and children Joe, Emma and Anne; and Scott (Holly) Dorsheimer of Lincoln, Neb. and sons Grant Coryell and Bryce; (Janis) Tonia Shaw of Knoxville, Tenn. and son Jared; and son Eric (Jamie) Kunze of Panora and children Tate and Taylor; and her great- great-grandchildren (Malesas) Abrielle and Karstyn, Also left to mourn are her sister Elaine Crawford of Mesa; Ariz.; and her sisters-in-law, Dollie Elliott of Freeport, Ill. and Belma Dorsheimer of Griswold; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
