Fred Clark
(July 13, 1862 – January 24, 1904)

Oakland Acorn, Oakland, Iowa, Thurs., Jan 28, 1904, p.8, col.2
Obituary
Mr. Fred Clark was born July 13, 1862, in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, three miles north of Oakland; died at his home six miles east of Oakland, where he has lived all of his married life, on Jan 24, 1904, at 1:00 p.m.
In 1883 he was married to Nancy M. Hough, who survives him. To them were born eleven children, two of whom died in infancy, the remaining nine, five boys and four girls are at home. Mr. Clark was taken ill with the measles about two weeks ago, and then attached with congestion of the lungs and brain, which resulted fatally. Mr. Clark was always disposed to comply with the privileges and the requirements of religion as taught him by his parents, and in 1897 he became a member of the Columbia Presbyterian church of which he was a most consistent and more than ordinarily earnest and active member. The last conscious act of his life, about a half hour before death, was an effort to sing a favorite hymn, “Saved by Grace.” On Tuesday at 11 p.m. the funeral services were held at the home and were conducted by Rev. S. Alexander, of Council Bluffs, who is supplying the pulpit of the Columbia church. A large number of sympathizing friends were in attendance.
The family of Mr. Clark hereby wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the friends who have so kindly sympathized with and assisted them in this their great affliction.
