Obituary
Harvey Edgar McMillan was born Sept. 7, 1867, at Wataza, Illinois, departed this life at the home of his sister, Mrs. C. T. Harney, of Carson, Ia., July 2, 1903, aged 35 years, 9 months, 25 days. He was one of a family consisting of nine children, five boys and four girls, six of whom are living, and were in attendance at the funeral. They were Emma Harney, of Carson, Ia., Dillie Clough, of Rainey, Mo., Will McMillan and Jesse McMillan, of Red Oak, Ia., Cora D. Dawson, of Oakland and Art McMillan, of Macedonia.
He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Braden, at her home near Macedonia, Feb 14, 1894. The union was blessed with one child, a dear little boy. During his illness he manifested a strong faith in God and in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He had no fear of death, trusting in God with his whole heart, saying to those who were in attendance upon him, “If my life be spared I will unite with the Church of Christ and endeavor to live a devoted Christian life in the fullest sense of the word, and I will bring my little boy up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ed, as he was familiarly called, was a hardworking man, honest, kind-hearted, true and generous, even to a fault. He was an affectionate husband, a loving and indulgent father, a kind brother, a good citizen and a true neighbor. He leaves a wife, one child, three sisters and three brothers, a number of relatives and many friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Macedonia, Friday afternoon, July 3, conducted by P. H. Green, of Oakland.
