Rites Held for Irma Cheney
Requiem Mass by Father Daniel Delehant was held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m., at St. Patricks Church in Imogene for Irma Cheney who was fatally injured in a car accident on Friday.
Music was by the church choir. Ushers were Pat Martin and George Hughes. Casket bearers were Rickey and Ronnie Mensen, Rodney and Randy Greiner, grandchildren, Jim Nusser and Bruce Bryant, grand nephews of the deceased. John Russell, Vernon Baker, Victor McCall and Ed Laughlin served as honorary casket bearers.
Mrs. Alice Anderson, Mrs. Helen Laughlin, Mrs. Gert McGargill, and Mrs. Fern McCain were at the registry book.
Irma Katherine Nusser Cheney, daughter of Joseph and Louise Nusser, was born July 20, 1909 at Council Bluffs, and departed this life on Dec. 19, 1975 at the age of 66.
She was united in marriage to Leo Cheney Oct. 25, 1933, at Imogene. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Mensen, Omaha; Mrs. Laurence (Belva) Greiner, Silver City; Jim, Durham, N.C.; Joe, Hastings; and Mrs. Randy (Gloria) Thompson, Council Bluffs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one grandchild.
Leaving to mourn her passing, her children, 18 grandchildren, five sisters and four brothers.
She was laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Imogene.
