H.E. Wittland, 84, Pioneer Farmer Dies
Herman E. Wittland, 84, died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. F. Hobus, Lewis township. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Wittland was a resident of Pottawattamie county for 83 years and a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church of Dumfries.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. W. H. Bruening of Colorado Springs, Col., Mrs. E.J. Moritz of Plattsmouth, Neb., Mrs. E.F. Hobus of Lewis township, Mrs. John Lee of Council Bluffs, Mrs. L.P. Conkling of Long Island, N.Y.; two sons, Fred of Coalton, Calif., and John, route 2, Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Cutler funeral home.
