Thomas J. Kenealy, age 83, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 6, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Home.

Tom was born June 26, 1930, in Neola, Iowa, to the late Jerome and Florence (Schierbrock) Kenealy. He graduated Beebeetown, Iowa High School in 1947. Tom married Mary Joanne Schierbrock on September 7, 1953. They were blessed with four children, Joseph, James, Lisa and Lori. Tom retired from Continental Can; owned and operated Kenealy's Korral in Neola and worked for RD Blue Construction Company. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1045 and American Legion Post #2.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori in 1995; and brother, Ray Kenealy.

Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Kenealy, of Council Bluffs; sons, Joseph Kenealy, of Neola, James (Saundra) Kenealy, of Pflugerville, Texas; daughter, Lisa (Jim) Gruman, of Aurora, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Phil (Pat) Kenealy, of Liberty, Mo., Leo (Jo Ann) Kenealy, of Minden, Iowa; sister, Mary O'Rourke, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Memorial Mass Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Rev. Chuck Kottas will be the celebrant. A lunch will immediately follow in the Kottas Social Hall at St. Peter's Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Church. It was Tom's wish to donate his body to anatomical research.
