Opal M. Westerbeck, 80, of Council Bluffs died June 5 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1923, in Albia to Charles C. and Mary E. (Slaten) Blanchard. She previously lived in Adel and Des Moines, moving to Council Bluffs five years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Council Bluffs, Knox United Presbyterian Church in Des Moines and Eastern Star.
Mrs. Westerbeck and her husband, Charles L., were married 61 years.
Survivors in addition to her husband include daughter, Sally Dickey and husband, Marion, of LaVista, Neb.; son, Jim, of Des Moines; grandsons, Jamison and Jared Westerbeck; two sisters, Joy Fedson and husband, Bob, of Council
Bluffs and La Vurn Sheary and husband, Howard, of Des Moines; one brother, Charles Blanchard and wife, Buela Jo, of West Des Moines; nieces and nephews.The body has been cremated; there will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside service and burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
